Over 4 million raised for charity with the help of social media sites

You have probably heard the story of the young man who recently set up a Just Giving webpage and asked for donations for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Stephen Sutton, 19 recently had announced that he had cancer and was communicating with people via the social media sites. This gave people the chance to speak to him about his condition and he gave out regular updates as to what treatment he was having and how the condition had changed his life and made him think.

With the constant communication with his followers Stephen, who sadly passed away a few days ago, has managed to blow his £10k target out of the water and has raised over a massive four million pounds to date. This is a great way that social media has assisted an individual to hopefully give him comfort and help him raise awareness and money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
